Peter’s Story | Growing in Community

/ Stories

“I was carrying a lot of heavy things…By allowing myself to surrender, God just took the burden off of my life and said, ‘You’re brand new. Now go.'”

After a life-threatening accident with a fire, Peter was left seriously injured and grateful to God to be alive. During the healing process, he moved to California. He was searching for community, and started attending Mariners consistently after being invited by a friend.

Peter signed up for Rooted and got connected with a group. There, he found a space where he could pray, serve, and study God’s Word alongside other men, growing deeper in his relationship with God. When the opportunity to be baptized came, Peter eagerly took the step, publicly declaring his faith in Jesus. He felt newfound peace and joy, knowing he could surrender his burdens to Jesus. Now, Peter serves each week on the parking team, experiencing the joy of showing Jesus’ love to others as he welcomes them to church.
