Local Outreach
We strive to create sustainable, long-term change and restore hope for at-risk youth, families, and communities.
Lighthouse Community Centers

We exist to catalyze engagement by equipping community leaders and volunteers to help break cycles of poverty in the communities we serve.
Areas of Engagement

Homework Help
Pour into elementary, junior high, or high school students as you help them with their homework, building developmental relationships and leading students through devotionals.

Pathfinders
Meet monthly with a mentee as you walk alongside an assigned college student and help them navigate college and adult life.

Kids Bible Enrichment
Come and bring a Sunday-School experience to the kids at the Lighthouse Community Centers as you lead them in worship, Bible stories, discussions and crafts based on the story. No prepping needed. A great option for life-groups to serve together.

Youth Enrichment
Join youth in their monthly outings intended to expand their world. Statistics show youth in at-risk neighborhoods don’t go beyond their 8-mi. radius. Come and explore with them!

Kids Camp
This is a fun summer opportunity to build relationships with 1st-6th graders as you serve as a camp counselor. Come connect with kids in God’s creation and discover how much they are loved.

Youth Night Live
Help create a safe and inviting environment for youth to get connected with the church and find a community to belong to. Volunteers are needed for check-in, food, games, greeters, and volunteer care!

Events
Don’t you love watching communities come together for special events filled with fellowship, life, encouragement, and fun?! Take part in our events team and help us plan, execute, and debrief events like our Festival’s, Street Fair, Holiday celebrations, and more.

Foster Youth & Families
Mariners Church Foster Youth & Families Ministry exists to transform foster care by building
community and restoring hope to vulnerable families and children.
Areas of Engagement
Orangewood
Get to know Orangewood kids! Through your service, children will experience loads of fun learning life skills, participating in games, crafts, learning Biblical truths, and so much more. We meet the 1st Tuesday and 3rd Saturday of every month at Orangewood.
Strong Families
Strong Families for Children supports at-risk children and parents in need. Strong Families is an opportunity for volunteers to have a powerful impact in the lives of others while practicing biblical hospitality and extending the love of Christ to people in need — all from their own home! Other opportunities include supporting Strong Families hosts by providing meals and other forms of respite care.
Foster Closet
A free resource for Mariners and Orange County foster parents and relatives, non-relative placements and non-minor dependents to access clothing, children’s accessories, toys and children’s furniture and more, to help take care of the foster children entrusted to them.
Care Communities
Foster/Adopt families thrive when they are well-supported. Supporting these families in practical, hands-on ways provides a healthier context for a child’s transition into their new home.

Community Center
Thrift Store
The Mariners Church Thrift Store is designed to facilitate radical generosity in order to meet the physical and spiritual needs of our community. Our store is fully operated by volunteers to relationally assist those in crisis or chronic conditions while sharing the hope of the Gospel. In addition to assisting families in crisis, we are also open to the public Thursday through Saturday where all proceeds go to outreach endeavors both here in southern California and around the world. To volunteer, click here!
Food Pantry
The Mariners Church Food Pantry distributes bags of shelf stable food, fresh produce, protein, and dairy to families in need. We are able to personally connect with each individual family and walk alongside them in their journey towards self-sufficiency. Ultimately, we seek to help meet the tangible and physical needs of our recipients while introducing them to the hope found in Jesus. Locations in Irvine, Santa Ana, and Huntington Beach. To volunteer, click here!
ESL – English as a Second Language
Our mission is to serve the non-native-speaking adults of our area through a weekly program created to build a foundation of English speaking and listening skills. Classes are taught in intimate groups and engage based on the student’s current English proficiency. In person and online options available. Find out more here!
Adults with Special Needs
A weekly program designed to bring adults impacted by developmental disabilities together in community for learning, socialization and to experience the love of Jesus. This program focuses on developing social and vocational skills while also fostering an environment of creativity and play. To volunteer, click here!
Legal Ministry
Exists to stand in the gap and defend the rights of underserved communities by offering resources and legal counsel where applicable when possible through our strategic community partners, Camino Immigration Services and World Relief.
Career Development
There are many in our church community and Community Center ecosystem that are un or under-employed and finding and retaining meaningful work is a critical area for those that are in a chronic need. The Career Development ministry seeks to help these individuals and point them to the hope of the Gospel when oftentimes in transition things may feel hopeless. The primary way in which we accomplish this is partnering with Step Forward Academy to relationally pair volunteer mentors with mentees in order to assist them in finding and retaining meaningful, living-wage work. Prison Ministry

Hebrews 13 says “Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.” While more than 600,000 Americans are released from correctional facilities annually, two-thirds are rearrested within three years. The cycle of crime and incarceration produces broken relationships, victimization, despair, and instability impacting families and communities across the nation.
Mariners Church is partnering with Prison Fellowship, who exist to serve all those affected by crime and incarceration and to see lives and communities restored in and out of prison. Opportunities include in-prison programming and care and support for family members.
