Foster Youth & Family
The mission of Mariners Church Foster Youth & Families Ministry is to transform foster care by building community and mobilizing and restoring hope to vulnerable families and children.
Areas of Engagement
Orangewood
Get to know Orangewood kids! Through your service, children will experience loads of fun learning life skills, participating in games, crafts, learning Biblical truths, and so much more. (Sunday services are held weekly and life skills meet the 1st Tuesday and 3rd Saturday of every month at Orangewood)
Strong Families
Strong Families for Children supports at-risk children and parents in need. Strong Families is an opportunity for volunteers to have a powerful impact in the lives of others while practicing biblical hospitality and extending the love of Christ to people in need — all from their own home! Other opportunities include supporting Safe Families hosts by providing meals and other forms of respite care.
Mentoring
Embark on the unique opportunity of mentoring a foster youth through a 1-on-1 relationship. Mentors meet with mentees once a month and communicate regularly with mentees. (Times are flexible and vary)
Foster Closet
A free resource for Mariners and Orange County foster parents and relatives, non-relative placements and non-minor dependents to access clothing, children’s accessories, toys and children’s furniture and more, to help take care of the foster children entrusted to them.
Care Communities
Foster/Adopt families thrive when they are well-supported. Supporting these families in practical, hands-on ways provides a healthier context for a child’s transition into their new home.

The ministry of finding and retaining meaningful work is a critical area for those that are in a chronic need. The Career Development Program is a place to bring these two together in a mutually beneficial space to find good talent that will create value for business owners as well as employment preparation and readiness, help with job placement, and ultimately keep well-paying jobs. Hebrews 13 says “Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.” While more than 600,000 Americans are released from correctional facilities annually, two-thirds are rearrested within three years. The cycle of crime and incarceration produces broken relationships, victimization, despair, and instability impacting families and communities across the nation.
Mariners Church is partnering with Prison Fellowship, who exist to serve all those affected by crime and incarceration and to see lives and communities restored in and out of prison. Opportunities include in-prison programming and care and support for family members.
