The season of Lent is a spiritual preparation for the celebration of Easter by simple living, fasting, worship, prayer, and reflection. We realign our hearts to greater dependence on Jesus. The journey begins on Ash Wednesday (Feb 22) and culminates at Easter (April 9). We remember the times of wilderness and wandering: for Israel as newly freed slaves—and Jesus when He was tempted. We draw inspiration from Matthew 4:1-11, when Jesus prayed and fasted in the wilderness before beginning His ministry. Despite our culture of self-indulgence, we too are called to walk a different path—one of humility, justice, and peace. Our lives can get so full we hardly have time for God. For 40 days, except on Sundays, we fast or give up something and replace it with a practice that brings us closer to God. We say no to ourselves in order to say yes to Jesus. The goal is to create intentional space for the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit to breakthrough in our lives.

We look forward to walking this journey with you and believe this Lent experience will bring a more powerful Easter. Why ashes? Come and learn the significance of this symbol. Join us at one of the Ash Wednesday services listed below. Childcare is available if you pre-register.
