“I just felt so hopeless. I needed someone—I needed a higher power. I could not do this on my own.”

In the midst of family troubles, financial hardship, and mental health struggles, Monica arrived at Mariners Church for the first time. The loneliness that she’d been feeling seemed impossible to escape, yet even as she stood in the crowd of people, she found herself overcome with a powerful sense of community and familiarity. Seeking further involvement, she took the next step and joined a Rooted group.

Growing up, Monica had never understood God’s love. Only when she met the women in her Rooted group did she begin to confront the lies she had believed and grow to truly understand God’s deep affection and care for her.

Watch and see how God used the women in Monica’s Rooted group to transform her personal relationship with God forever.

“If you would have asked me about this three months ago and said that we would be doing this, I would not have believed you…”

When Ryan’s business began to face financial trouble, Ryan and Mila took a leap of faith: rather than becoming consumed by worry, the two decided to trust God and started praying for God to use them.

Two days later, the war in Ukraine broke out. Ryan and Mila knew Ukraine desperately needed prayer, and in response, they began a weekly Zoom call where anyone could join to pray for Ukraine’s needs. What began as a small gathering of five or six people soon grew into meetings of 40 to 50 people!

But Ryan and Mila didn’t stop there. When financial support and donations began coming to them from all different avenues, they broadened their ministry and provided funds to Ukrainian churches for medical supplies and food. Despite having no previous knowledge of wartime support, Ryan and Mila boldly followed where they felt God leading them.

Check out how God used Ryan and Mila’s obedience to serve their global family with God’s love.

“I have two sets of families, but in the end, God loves me more than both of them combined…In the end, I’m really just God’s child.”

On a small farm in Ethiopia, Abe’s mother, Martha, faced an impossible decision. Abe’s father had passed away, leaving her without a steady income or way to provide for her family. Now she had a choice: either put Abe up for adoption or keep him—risking his life.  After many nights of prayer, Martha contacted the adoption agency, and on that very same day, Abe’s parents called from the U.S. and began the process of adopting him.

Martha’s brave decision led to an entirely different life for Abe. As a part of his new family, Abe saw how God had orchestrated the whole situation according to His plan—and how God took care of him through it all.

Watch how Abe experienced the wonder of God’s perfect plan, showing him his true identity as a child of God.

“We’re making this decision with active faith—and with joy. There is a different way to live.”

After growing up in a household that struggled with financial stability, Richard’s relationship with money was always plagued by worry. Though he continued to give to his church, he knew that unless he made a larger change, he would never be able to grow beyond his feelings of reluctance and doubt. He needed a major shift in spiritual perspective—one which would remove the emotional hold that money held over his life.

As Richard searched for a solution, both he and his wife began to feel God pulling them toward greater giving as they went through Rooted together. In response, the two made the fearless decision to turn their financial situation over to God and increase their regular giving going forward. When they did, Richard saw that in the place of his old reluctance and fear about giving, there was now joy! Through giving freely, he was able to understand God’s generosity in his life in a new way.

Watch and see how God used generous giving to remind Richard of His love and transform his relationship with money forever.

After separating, selling their home, and beginning the journey to divorce, Matt and Summer thought their marriage was finished. But God wasn’t finished writing their story. Check out their incredible story to hear how God brought Matt and Summer back together, showing how nothing is impossible with Him.

Growing up, Carlos and his family were served by faith-based, community programs where Carlos first encountered God’s love. As an adult Carlos, got connected at Mariners and began serving as a tutor at Lighthouse Community Center, reaching and sharing God’s love with kids like him.

“What happens to me when I die?” “How will the world end?” “Is this world all there is?” These are massively important questions, and the Scripture offers us beautiful and encouraging answers.

At Christmas, we celebrated the first arrival of Jesus and how He came to be with us and rescue us. In the new year, we will see what God’s Word says about His second arrival in our new weekend teaching series, Start with the Ending. On His first arrival, Jesus was born to die for us. On His second arrival, He will be returning to rule and reign and make everything right and new. By understanding the ending, you can have a better beginning to your new year.

Join us this weekend as we begin exploring what happens at the end of our lives and the end of the world.
