When was the last time you set out to simply play with your art? No goal. No set purpose. No identified finished outcome. When was the last time the means WAS the end to your art?
Join us on Monday, March 21st at 6:30pm for the next Mariners Arts Show & Tell Gathering at Mariners Santa Ana.
Here’s what you can expect. We’ll start with a time of food and connection and we’ll talk about a theology of play. We'll be spotlighting two artists: Oil Painter Bill West, who mixes Picasso paints with well known scenes from the Bible, and Installation Artist Melissa Beck who re-contextualizes familiar objects, entities, and pieces of life in such a way so as to render no new entity except for our experience and understanding of those entities, thus creating a new thing.
This gathering will be held at Mariners Santa Ana. 120 W 5th St, Santa Ana, CA 92701 **Park in the parking garage at the corner of West 5th & Main St, and we will provide validation at the gathering.**
Mariners Arts Show & Tell gatherings make space for artists and creatives from many disciplines to come together regularly in community, grow in skill and faith, share stories, and exercise artistic gifts. Show & Tell features connection, food, storytelling, art & faith discussion, and creative activation. Artists and creatives from all Mariners congregations are invited to participate, and the location of these gatherings will move around to all of our locations in Southern California throughout the year.
