The room is set up with the child’s well being for a safe, healthy and happy environment. Our program will be challenging for the infant, recognizing everything we do with the Infant is a learning experience. The partnership of parents and staff is a vital part of our total program to enhance family relationships and communication.

The goals are:

1. The infant will demonstrate a positive self concept
• To separate from parent with little anxiety
• To demonstrate an attachment with caregiver


2. The infant will exhibit ability to feed self
• To hold a bottle
• To manipulate finger food
• To manipulate feeding utensils


3. The infant will demonstrate basic control of large muscles
• The Infant will attain control of his upper body
• The Infant will combine larger muscle movements:
- Rolling over
- Getting on all fours
- Scooting
- Ultimately crawling
• The Infant will sit up
• The Infant will pull up
• The Infant will walk unassisted


4. The infant will demonstrate language abilities
• Social smiles
• Cooing, repeated vowels, squealing, gurgling, varied pitches
• Babbling (combines consonants with vowels)
• Bubbling “expressive jargon”, “echolalia”, (imitates speech patterns heard by adults)


5. The infant will exhibit social skills
• The Infant will be able to resolve problems
• The Infant will be able to use gestures when interacting with friends or adults
• The Infant will demonstrate soft, gentle touches
• The Infant will be encouraged to use his/her words to express verbally his/her needs and desires
• The Infant will be encouraged to use self-help skills
