mariners small groups

You're a part of God's family!
One way to better experience what that means is to get connected with others in your church family. You can do that by plugging into a small group Bible study. Small groups provide a way to connect with others, feel a sense of belonging, and hear from God through His Word. At Mariners, we make a big deal about small groups.

venu groups

We have recently launched a new small group option called "Venu Groups." These are groups of individuals who already know each (or perhaps people who want to know each other better) and want to take their friendships to a new level through spiritual discussions. Groups can meet almost anywhere - in the neighborhood, at the local coffeehouse, at the golf club, or in your workplace.

Some examples are:
• A golfing foursome that meets each Monday before they go out for their weekly round
• A group of women business professionals meet weekly for lunch
• Men who meet each Saturday morning for an hour at their local Starbucks
• Volunteers meet for an hour before they go off to do their volunteer work

The list of possibilities is endless...
The Small Groups Resource team has some great curriculum options that are suited for these types of groups and locations. Please consider becoming a leader by getting together some of your friends, neighbors or work colleagues and starting your own Venu group.

You can contact Greg Robins for more information.

Ephesians Study
8-week study series, $8 + tax
By Kenton Beshore, with Cindy Western

The evening of October 30, 1938, Orson Welles and the players of his Mercury Theatre were preparing to broadcast the latest in their series of weekly literary adaptations, War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells. The production should have been no different from any other they had done before, but before the hour was up, Welles found himself at the center of a perfect storm of controversy. What was intended to be a simple and innovative retelling of a tale of alien invasion, triggered one of the first great mass panics of the modern media age.

As believers, we too, sometimes find ourselves caught in a "war of the worlds."  All too often we find ourselves facing opposing forces and caught in a tug-of-war over daily priorities, financial, spiritual and moral choices, and in our personal relationships.

Paul's letter to the Ephesians addresses these "war-of-the-worlds" issues and offers us three consoling realities:
...We have all the resources we need for the daily battles and struggles we face.
...God is on our side and is always there to help us overcome the opposing forces in life.
...We CAN live a life of love, purity and generosity in this world – and do it authentically!

This new 8-week study series is now available at the Small Groups kiosk or Global Café. Pick up a copy for use in your own personal devotions or small group. Each lesson is built on the Liquid (flow question) Method and gets you into God's Word in a way that offers you real life change.
