The Magic Castle: Johnny Ace Palmer
The number one magic venue on earth is undisputed—the Magic Castle in Hollywood. And the person regarded as the best close-up magician is also undisputed—Johnny Ace Palmer, who, in 1988, became the only close-up magician in history to win magic's top award, the Grand Prix, across all eight categories of competition (even the stage magicians). He is still the only magician able to make that claim.

September 10, 2005, Connections members were the personal guests of Johnny as we saw the act that won him the Grand Prix!

"Is the Magic Castle a Christian atmosphere?" Well, no; neither is a Lakers game. But there IS a Fellowship of Christian Magicians chapter there, which Johnny helped kick off. Through that group, one of the Castle's best managers became a Christian!

And September 30, 2005, Johnny performs at The Tent at Mariners! Come to Connections for more details (or see our Activites page).

Nancy got the honors of speaking "Open sesame" to the little gold owl in the bookcase, and that resulted in the bookcase moving away to give us entrance into this magical place of illusion!
An outstanding performer, purveyor of prestidigitation, and a classy human being, Johnny completely WOW'd us that night! We'll never think of Coke, eight balls, coins, scarves, spongeballs, doves, or baby chicks the same way again.
